Third through sixth grade students visited the library for their first literature connection of the year. We spent some time going over expectations for the year by talking about and signing our "library covenant" below. Then, we got to know each other by playing a "Meeting Through Books" game. We found out things like who has read the entire Harry Potter series, who took a book to the beach over the summer, and who likes to read mysteries (Mrs. T.) or fantasy novels (Mrs. Owen). Through the game, I was able to highlight some of our new books and some books that I'm reading that I can't wait to share with the students. It was also fun to meet our newest students to St. Therese and introduce them to the library.
The library covenant below is based on the mission statement of St. Therese Catholic School. Library orientation continues today with all classes visiting the library for read-alouds or checking out the first books of the year! I can't wait to see what everyone chooses.
